Government Documents

A guide to the Government Documents collection

Home

Welcome

The Gould Law Library is a Federal Depository and collects official government information in print and electronically through Govinfo. These federal documents contain information on careers, business opportunities, health and nutrition, laws and regulations, statistical data, demographics, consumer information, and numerous other subjects.

The purpose of this guide is to give you an overview of the kinds of information published by the United States Government. It is designed to help you locate these resources and use them for your research.

Access

Members of the public wishing to view government documents can do so Mondays through Thursdays between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm, and Fridays between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm. If you need assistance locating government documents, reference librarians will be available during those times to assist you. Please ask a librarian to determine any other library services that are available to you when viewing the depository collection.

Please be advised that during exam periods, the open hours listed above do not apply, and members of the public wishing to view government documents can do so only by appointment. To arrange a visit, please call the reference office at 631-761-7160.  Please check our hours to see if you are planning a visit during an exam period.

We apologize for any inconvenience, but the non-depository collection is not open to the general public.  Please contact your local Public Access law library for assistance with locating non-government documents.
